While at La Casa, Jill represented victims of domestic abuse, free of charge to the client, in restraining order and divorce/custody proceedings. Once asked by a grant funder what she considered to be the most important resource a victim of domestic violence can have, Jill responded “a lawyer.” Today, the civil legal assistance program is a viable resource for victims of domestic violence in Dona Ana County. As a survivor of domestic abuse, La Casa, Inc. and their mission to stop family violence holds a special place for Jill as evidenced in her commitment to provide pro bono services for victims of domestic violence. Jill transitioned from La Casa, Inc. to the 3 rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office to prosecute domestic violence criminal offenses under the direction of the former 3 rd Judicial District Attorney, Governor Susana Martinez. Jill has practiced all areas of family law at a local firm for 4 ½ years before opening up her own office.
